Music Education in the Caribbean and Latin America: a Comprehensive Guide

Dr. Raymond Torres-Santos’ schedule this summer exemplifies the work of a contemporary musician: 

1) Touring and promoting his book, Music Education in the Caribbean and Latin America: a Comprehensive Guide, published by Rowan and Littlefield Publishers, Inc. (R&L) in partnership with the National Association of Music Education (NAfMe). The book wad featured in El Nuevo Día Newspaper this summer.
2) Composing a new symphonic work – a Trumpet Concerto, commissioned by the Puerto Rico Symphony Orchestra for its 2017-18 concert season.
3) Scoring an upcoming film.
4) Participating in the process of the upcoming Grammys.
5) Editing and mixing the recording of an upcoming CD on Film Music.
6) Conducting his symphonic music in San Juan.
7) Acting as a member of the Editorial Board of the Revista Internacional de Educación Musical (RIEM) [International Journal of Music Education Journal], published by the International Society of Music Education (ISME), Victoria, Australia.

All of this in addition to attending ASMAC Board of Directors meetings and other sponsored events as well as getting ready to teach at California State University, Long Beach, where he is a professor of music composition.
