ASMAC’s Orchestrators Night Out

If one word had to be used to sum up ASMAC’s Orchestrators Night Out event, the word would be wisdom.


Ten of the most brilliant and relevant contemporary film orchestrators gathered on stage for the First Wednesday evening of October 2017 at Evergreen Scoring Stage in Burbank. The amount of wisdom shared was priceless. At least 2000 film scores have been orchestrated by this all-star panel that included Richard BronskillTim DaviesLiz FinchIra HearshenAndrew KinneyJon KullConrad PopePatrick RussDave Slonaker and Scott Smalley.

The evening starting out with each of the featured orchestrators sharing their thoughts about orchestration individually.A few of many topics covered the fascinating history of the Hollywood orchestrator, the role of an orchestrator and how it has evolved over time, technical tips for score setup, education, business challenges and other issues that orchestrators face in today’s market.The second portion of the program included all the speakers discussing a wide range of topics including tools used and favorite all-time orchestrators.
