ASMAC’s FIRST WEDNESDAYS (postponed to 2nd Monday!!) will feature a discussion and listening celebration of Nan Schwartz’s original symphonic music album: “Nan Schwartz” moderated by Conrad Pope. Nan will discuss the making of her album as well as her multi-faceted career.

As a woman composer who has forged an enviable reputation inside the crucible of the Hollywood film music business, Nan Schwartz, nonetheless, remains an enigma to orchestras and concert music audiences around the world. This apparent anomaly is, in part, due to her busy career as a TV and film composer, arranger, feature film orchestrator, teacher, songwriter and now, musical theatre composer.

When Nan, at last, had the chance to present the symphonic pieces she had written over the years to Kevin Purcell, they piqued his interest and he stepped forward to produce and conduct the album. Given that Nan is a Grammy winner, 5-time Grammy nominee and 7-time Emmy nominee, we are excited that the classical music world is now beginning to recognize her indisputable talent.

This album, beautifully directed by the eminent Australian conductor Kevin Purcell, brings to light, through these premiere recordings, the extraordinary music of this iconic, contemporary American Composer.
