A Loving Tribute to Marilyn Bergman
November 10, 1928 – January 8, 2022

There are very few times in our lives when we are blessed to meet a truly special human being who is filled with pure light and joy.

Marilyn Bergman was this person to me and to all who had the privilege of knowing her.

As President of The American Society of Music Arrangers and Composers, I am deeply saddened that we have lost a true giant in our music industry. I am grateful that ASMAC had the privilege to honor Marilyn and Alan with our President’s Award a few years ago. Marilyn’s gift of lyrics, collaborating with her incredible husband, Alan Bergman, expressed so much depth and heart in everything they wrote.

Marilyn, thank you for gracing us with your presence, your kindness and wisdom, your love, and especially your heart. You will forever remain a beacon of light for all of us in the world of music.

—Gayle Levant, ASMAC President
