The American Society of Music Arrangers and Composers is excited to announce the 2024 ASMAC Mentorship Program mentors and mentees. Welcome to this session’s participants.
An amazing pool of 61 applicants from eleven countries—timezone-wise, from Hawaii to the UK to Oman to Australia—applied for the inaugural ASMAC Mentorship Program. We wish we could have matched everyone to a mentor. For the first session, the match was limited to seven mentors.
For all of the applicants, on 22 May 2024, we hosted a Business of Music event with Jeannie Gayle Pool and Dave Black (publishing). Even our seasoned veterans on the ASMAC board indicated they learned new things. Mentorship meetings started in June 2024. We will also be hosting a social mixer for all of the applicants later in October 2024.
Here is our list of selected mentor—mentee matches:
- John Altman — Emily Lim
- Michael Giacchino — Logyn Okuda
- Gordon Goodwin — Alex Brown
- Penka Kouneva — Yoni Fogelman
- Bill Ross — Daniel Goodwin
- Dave Slonaker — Lorenzo Barcella
- Nathan Wang — Satoshi Terashima
Thanks to the Mentorship Committee for all of their work:
- Nami Melumad — Mentorship Committee Chair
- Dave Black
- Chuck Fernandez
- John Hinchey
- Jeff Kellem
- Milton Nelson
And great thanks to all the mentors!
