In Memoriam: Alan Bergman

In Memoriam: Alan Bergman
(11 Sep 1925 – 17 Jul 2025)

Dearest friends,

Once again, I am filled with profound sadness that our world has suffered a tremendous loss with the passing of the great lyricist, Alan Bergman. His legacy, along with his loving wife Marilyn, will live on in our hearts forever.

ASMAC had the joy of honoring Alan and Marilyn with The President’s Award in 2001 at our Golden Score event. They both served on our Advisory Board for decades.

The grace and gentleness of Alan was a gift to all of us who were privileged to know him. I was first introduced to Alan and Marilyn back in the early 70s. His smile was absolutely infectious! And Marilyn’s warmth embraced each and everyone. It was like she was wrapping her arms around you.

The words that flowed from Alan, and, of course Marilyn, will live on for all time.

Thank you, dear Alan, for touching all of our hearts with your loving heart.

—Gayle Levant, ASMAC President
