Dan Redfeld

Award-winning American composer, conductor, orchestrator and producer Dan Redfeld has had his music and arrangements performed internationally from the concert hall to the musical theatre stage to the recording studio. His credits include the following:

Music director: It Shoulda Been You, (Musical Theatre Guild), Bright Star, Beauty & The Beast, (Susan Egan), The Who’s Tommy, (Alice Ripley), Chess, (Susan Egan/Matt Morrison), My Fair Lady, Jonathan Pryce, assistant MD),  Disney’s Hunchback of Notre Dame, Peter Pan, Evita, and dozens more. Conductor for LA Opera’s Educom since 2003.

Composer: A Hopeful Place, Arioso for Oboe, Percussion & Strings, (Santa Barbara Symphony premiere),  January 15, 1947 for Solo Harp, Fantasy for Violin & Piano, Travels for Piano Quartet, and Dance Sketches.

Twenty five film scores including the award winning Clinic E and film noir Moustache. He has also wrtitten music for many silent classics, (including Robin Hood, The Black Pirate, The Phantom of the Opera, etc.), commissioned by the Library of Congress, Alex Film Society, Williams S. Hart Society, the American Cinematheque, and so on.

Orchestrations: Jerry Herman Memorial, Beaches, (Drury Lante Theatre), A Christmas Story, (nat. tour, adapting Larry Blank’s original orchestrations), CTG’s Annual Gala at the Tapes, Music Center’s 50th, CTG’s 50th Anniversary at the Ahmanson, plus arrangements for such artists as Darren Criss, Lea Michelle, Patrick Cassidy, etc. Albums include Across the Stars: The Film Music of John Williams, Braveheart: The Film Music of James Horner and James Cameron’s film. He has also provided arrangement for various orchestras, most recently for Santa Barbara Symphony, the New West Symphony and Pasadena Symphony.

Redfeld’s song cycle, A Hopeful Place, is available on Navona Records with soprano Kristi Holden and the Hollywood Studio Symphony. The Dan Redfeld Collection, Vol. I – a comprehensive two CD set of Mr. Redfeld’s film music- was released on BSX Records in October 2019.

Dan has worked with artists such as Seth MacFarlane, Barrett Foa, Patrick SCassidy, Shirley Jones, and so on.
