Milton Nelson

Milton Nelson is originally from Albuquerque New Mexico. While in high school, he played oboe and English horn in youth orchestras, woodwinds for local musical theatre productions, and jazz piano at local venues. He moved to Los Angeles and studied composing, arranging and film scoring from top professionals in the music industry at Dick Grove Music Workshop.  His early work was as an arranger, pianist and conductor for cruise ships and showrooms featuring notable artists.

A few of Milton’s credits include arrangement and orchestration for the ‘2016 Tony Awards’ opening production number; supervising orchestration for Disney’s ‘The Game Plan’ and ‘You Again’, Paramount Pictures ‘Playing With Fire’, DreamWorks ‘She’s the Man’, Showtime’s ‘Reefer Madness:  The Movie Musical’, Jackie Chan’s ‘The Myth’, ‘Chinese Zodiac’, ‘Kung Fu Yoga’ and Lifetime’s ‘Christmas With Holly’. Additional film orchestration includes ‘Fast & Furious presents: Hobbs & Shaw’, ‘My Dog Skip’, ‘Haunting in Connecticut’, ‘Return to Nim’s Island’.

Composer credits include several independent films, ‘Looney Tunes Phonics’ interactive video learning game, additional music for ‘Pokémon’ and ‘Scooby Doo’ films and TV series.

Orchestra and Concert venue arrangement & orchestration includes ‘Hollywood Bowl’, ‘Shanghai Philharmonic’, ‘Atlanta Pops Orchestra’, ‘Pasadena Pops Orchestra’ and ‘LA Opera’.

For several years he worked in live TV as a keyboard player in the on-camera house band for ‘The Martin Short Show’, arranger for ‘The Wayne Brady Show’, composer/arranger for Wayne Brady’s  ABC Prime Time variety show and arranger for Disney’s  ‘High School Musical: Get In The Picture’.
