
Annette Johnson
Annette Johnson is a Los Angeles-based composer, and she is originally from Albuquerque, New Mexico. She grew up immersed in both the local film and theatre communities and played the violin with the Albuquerque Youth Symphony Program from 2006-2017. She also sang as the first spirit in The Magic Flute with the Santa Fe Opera in 2010.
Her music is heavily influenced by the sound and culture of the Southwest, and she is also influenced by musical theatre and film composers such as Elmer Bernstein, Jerry Goldsmith, John Williams, Joe Hisaishi, Steven Schwartz, Alan Menken, and Robbie Robertson. She is currently being mentored by Mark Isham and Gavin Greenaway.
She has worked on film projects such as the “Roaring River” series by Tim Bass, “Asking for It” by Christy Lee Hughes, and “Giraffe Family read by Dr. Jane Goodall”. She has also written music for a Simpsons-themed pinball machine built by Marco Bucci. Additionally, she has written concert music such as “Age of Invention” which was performed by Kaye Royer and the Odin Quartet in Toronto, and “Sanctuary of Stone” performed by the Helix Collective at Bandrika Studios in Los Angeles.
