Dr. RICHARD NILES’ career spans TV & film, pop, R&B, rock and jazz as a composer, producer, songwriter/lyricist, arranger, conductor, broadcaster, recording artist, author and educator. He has contributed to over 40 hits. Records featuring his work have sold over 250 million copies worldwide.

Niles has composed & arranged music for several films, TV series and has produced and composed music for over 100 TV commercials.
He has released 4 albums as leader and guitarist (BANDZILLA Blue Movies, BANDZILLA Bandzilla Rises!!!, Santa Rita, Club Deranged). Niles was featured as musical director with BANDZILLA on British TV series for David Essex, Leo Sayer, Ruby Wax and Michael Ball. He has performed internationally.
Niles hosted, wrote and produced many acclaimed music documentaries for the BBC (1994-2012). He is a published journalist and author: The Pat Metheny Interviews (2009), Polymetrics (2011), The Invisible Artist (2014), From Dreaming To Gigging – Jazz Guitar in 6 Months (2016), Songwriting – The 11 Point Plan (2017). He has given masterclasses at Berklee College of Music, Musician’s Institute, USC, UCLA, CalState, The Academy of Contemporary Music, The Tech Schools of Music and the Orange County School of Arts. He holds a PhD from Brunel University.
