Exploring the Scores of Nolly, Doctor Jekyll, and Black Dog with Blair Mowat

Saturday, 10 August 2024 — Duration: 2:59:47

Composer Blair Mowat shares about the process of creating the score of PBS Masterpiece’s Nolly, featuring a fusion of musical theater and jazz recorded with eclectic toy band instruments in his studio, remote big band soloists, and a 40 piece string orchestra.

Blair will also dive into his creative and technical process for two additional scores: Doctor Jekyll recorded by The Royal Scottish National Orchestra and Black Dog—a low-budget score forcing him to go back to basics without team members such as mixers and copyists, creating the score entirely from his own playing, samples, and one solo violin.
