An esteemed panel of composers, arrangers and conductors including Larry Blank, Jack Campey, Michael Feinstein, Dan Redfeld, and Marc Shaiman explore the legendary orchestration and arrangement contributions of ASMAC’s past president Irwin Kostal.
Irwin Kostal received two Oscars and two GRAMMYs for West Side Story (with Sid Ramin) and The Sound of Music. He was also nominated for three additional Oscars and two Emmys.
Kostal became a legend at Disney with his contributions to the films Mary Poppins, Fantasia, Bedknobs and Broomsticks and Pete’s Dragon, to mention a few.
His remarkable work on Broadway included West Side Story, Fiorello and A Funny Thing Happened On the Way to the Forum (with Sid Ramin).
In the early days of television, he was the Orchestrator for Your Show of Shows and the Music Director for the Garry Moore Show, as well as Julie (Andrews) and Carol (Burnett) at Carnegie Hall. Irwin Kostal, with all of his extraordinary orchestrations throughout his career remains as one of the most revered orchestrators to this day.
