An Evening with Nan Schwartz

14 September 2018

On the night of Monday, September 10th 2018, the Evergreen Stage in Burbank was filled to capacity with enthusiastic and notable arrangers, orchestrators and composers as two of Hollywood’s brightest stars shined their light on the music community. The audience’s musical telescopes were locked on Grammy Award-winning arranger Nan Schwartz and her album of original orchestral compositions as well as her arrangement of “Here’s That Rainy Day” performed by Natalie Cole (which won her said award). Accompanying Nan on the stage was her husband Conrad Pope, whose star shines brightly in the sky with his composing and world-class orchestrations for John Williams, James Newton Howard and countless others.

Conrad aptly focused the spotlight on his wife and brought up many fascinating points about her creativity and process. The audience listened in awe to Nan’s music of stellar beauty, as Conrad related that none other than John Williams described Nan as a “great arranger”, prefacing that with the fact that this is a major recognition from the multiple Academy Award-winning composer, who isn’t exactly known to embrace hyperbole.

“An Evening with Nan Schwartz” was a must-see event and ASMAC members will be over the moon that it will very soon be available on the ASMAC website’s members only section.
